Context
Chiville was developed as a low-density residential project focused on architectural individuality and spatial diversity.
Inserted within a fragmented residential fabric in Brasov, the project occupies a site with a double opening between Olarilor and Neagoe Basarab streets. The solution responds to the scale of the place through a composition of volumes that mediate the rules of the surrounding neighborhood.
Architecture
The project is composed of two bodies that take up the rhythm and scale of adjacent housing. The level difference between the two streets becomes a generative element, creating half-level shifts inside the volume and a sequence of semi-private courtyard terraces.
The building includes 38 apartments across 29 typologies, most of them duplexes or triplexes, with loggias, terraces or generous private courtyards. This creates an intermediate form of living between individual housing and collective residential development.
Recognition
Chiville was recognized at the 2021 Romanian National Architecture Biennale in the collective housing category, selected among a strong field of nominated projects.
